How do I fix “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.”?
Question by L1992: How do I fix “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.”?
OK, so I got infected with the fake “Windows Security Center” virus yesterday and I hunted it down manually via the Registry. (NOTE: once the virus tapped into my system, I had TaskManager open, so i quickly ended the virus’ processes before it downloaded more of its harm) The Reg keys related to the virus have been wiped out and I’m always checking to make sure they’re gone for good. Before the Reg cleanup, the virus would activate to download more fake alerts and viruses once I tried to open any program on the computer. (Again using TaskManager to quickly end the virus process once it apeared) So I proceeded in opening a program to verify that the virus has indeed been destroyed once I finished with the Registry. The problem: I double-click a program desktop icon or its icon within the Start menu and I receive a message stating: “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.” This error obviously is attributed to that virus messing with the Registry’s EXE workings. BUT WAIT! I look for the EXE extension within that FO control panel and of course its not there, so I attempt to add it and acquant it with “Applications.” A message that pops up reads: “Extension exe is already associated with File Type Application. Do you want to un-associate exe with Application and create a new File Type for it?”
This is where I’m stuck. Any help on getting my EXE settings associated properly will be so greatly and deeply appreciated. This has got to THE most turbulent day working on a computer I’ve ever had. I’m weary of downloading any Registry cleaners, whether they’re legit or not, so I hope there is a solution embedded within my system itself to fix this issue.
Thank You.

I have the same spyware as you do. I fix it by go to control panel and create another admistrator account and log into that new account.
Once I log into the new account I just transfer my old data onto the new account. Everything works after that.
There is no point of finding a fix for that kind of problem since it takes alot of time to do and you have to miss with the registry.

Question by Barrel Racing Chica: Itunes says “This ipod cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started”.?
I follows these instructions I found.
1. Right click “My Computer”
2. Left click “Manage”
3. Double click “Services and Applications”
4. Double click “Services”
5. Locate and Double click “Apple Mobile Device”
6. Change Startup type from “disabled” to “automatic”
7. Click apply, then OK
8. Click “Start” the service
9. Locate and Double click “iPod Service”
10. Change Startup type from “disabled” to “automatic”
11. Click apply, then OK
12. Click “Start” the service
But I can’t do it, because I’m in safe mode! I have to be in safe mode or I will get a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). So what do I do?

You need to resolve your Safe Mode issue cause it’s going to cause you other issues down the road. Bad memory is a common cause, or bad drivers… try to figure out the issue then it’ll be a lot easier to connect your iPod.

Where can i find this office joke?
Question by Hero557: Where can i find this office joke?
Where can i find this office joke?
I saw this on some office humor site.
It is basically few pictures, of a tree and a chair hanging under it.
One of them shows a picture and says
this is what marketing advertised
This is what the developer thought
This is what the client was billed for
This is what the end product was
etc etc.
There is a picture for every one of those, sometimes the chair lying on the ground, or badly fixed etc
Thanks in advance
