Batman Cartoon 1968 – The Joke’s on Robin

In this shorter episode, Robin suddenly becomes clumsy with the devices in his utility belt — thanks to the Joker! When, thinking he must be overworked, Robin decides to take a rest, Batgirl steps in to help Batman, and the two of them are promptly captured by the Joker. He ties them both up in the giant gears of a clock mechanism, set to mesh…and MASH…at midnight! Some voices: Batman: Olan Soulé Robin: Casey Kasem Batgirl: Jane Webb Narrator: Ted Knight (2 years BEFORE “Mary Tyler Moore”) Joker: according to different sources, either Ted Knight as well, or Larry Storch (who received no on-screen voice credit) TVLand once stated that Olan Soulé voiced Batman on Radio in the 1940′s, but this is in dispute. TVLand has been known to make mistakes. We do know that Filmation’s voice of Superman in their 1966 cartoons, Bud Collyer, DID voice Superman on Radio in the 40′s.

@tinkertinkbell100 That’s Casey Kasem, who was a very famous radio DJ. He voiced Shaggy for about 40? years as well as doing the classic Robin voices. He is one of the most talented voice actors alive, up there with Mark Hamill, voice of the Joker in Batman: TAS.

@vgmc7650 I wished they were! Darn Warner Brothers Studios! As for Filmation using stock? animation (the idea came from co-founder/director Hal Sutherland, btw), they did utilize a great deal of it as a means of saving money because even to this day, new animation is very expensive to produce.

Casey Kasem is playing the voice of Robin in this series he was also of Robin in the Hanna-Barbera’s The Superfriends, He was the voice of? Shaggy from Scooby Doo and the voice of Alexander Cabot III from Josie And The Pussycats.

  10. vgmc7650 says:

Are these on DVD yet? There’re actual fighting scenes here, unlike in the later 1977 sequel. Filmation also seems to have reused much of the same stock animation and backgrounds for the later? series as well.

Forget Robin? and Shaggy having the same voice, what’s even more bizarre is when Batman and Robin “sneak” onto the boat, they produce the same “running-away-sound” that Shag and Scoob make when they flee from some idiot shyster in a monster costume! Way to be stealthy, guys.

To shatter his confidence, and render him useless to batman?? Why not just get a gun and kill them already…
